Now look at a closeup of the little sign on it:
Perhaps inspired by René Magritte’s famous painting “La Trahison des Images,” it says, “This is not an ashtray.” Obviously, people were stubbing out their cigarettes in the soil – until the sign was added.
Now look: no butts! You ask Parisians not to use it as an ashtray and they don’t. They use it as a trashcan.
