For unusual Christmas gifts, two pop-up shops. Pompon Bazaar (14, rue Bouchardon, 75010 Paris; call for code: 06 19 27 01 16; through Dec. 22) and Storie (24, rue Yves Toudic, 75010 Paris; through Feb. 14), have scoured the world for gifts you won’t find elsewhere. The latter (permanent store at 20 rue Delambre, 75014 Paris) specializes in handmade, equitable objects with a story behind them. The Boutique des Inventions (13, rue Saint-Paul, 75004 Paris) has two Paris shops and an online store selling such clever and useful objects as an umbrella that changes color in the rain, a toy car that runs on solar energy and a knife that warms when you hold it, the better to spread butter on your toast – everyone needs one of those!
