NEW THEME HOTELS
Two reasonably priced new boutique hotels have opened in Paris’s ninth arrondissement. R. Kipling (above) pays homage to the English novelist who was an apologist for the British Empire, and has an appropriately clubby, colonial feel, with a mix of antique and modern furnishings. Right across the street is Joséphine (below), which pays tribute to Josephine Baker, the American dancer and singer who often performed in neighborhood theaters.
