Lucien (better known as Lulu) Gainsbourg, a student at the Berklee College of Music in Boston and the 25-year-old son of late singer/songwriter Serge Gainsbourg, is about to record 15 of his father’s songs for his first album, a tribute to Serge in the 20th-anniversary year of his death. It is scheduled to come out in September.
The Ile-de-France’s Transilien suburban rail network has a new emergency number for its passengers: 31 17. It has already been used to report thefts (hold on to your smartphone!), assaults, problems with trains, and passengers locked in train toilets.
The Fédération Française de Tennis has voted not to move Roland Garros out of Paris and to accept the City of Paris’s plan to expand its area from 8.5 hectares to 13.5 hectares, but that’s not the last word on the matter: the Greens and residents who oppose the expansion will now take up arms to fight it, especially since the expansion will encroach on part of the century-old Serres d’Auteuil botanical garden.
