Paris Update Secret Paris
The Square Hector Berlioz today, a popular site for film shoots.
On her frequent trips to Paris, National Public Radio journalist Susan Stamberg likes to visit the setting of a favorite painting and compare current reality to the pictorial reality as seen by the painter. Last month she visited Place Vintimille in the ninth arrondissement, today called Square Hector Berlioz, which Edouard Vuillard (1868-1940) painted many times from his window when he lived there between 1908 and ’26, and she also made a pilgrimage to one of Vuillard’s hangouts, the Café Wepler on the Place de Clichy.
