The name of this eatery on Boulevard Ornano looks like the result of a free association session between Eugène Ionesco and Timothy Leary, but actually there’s an explanation. Without the apostrophe-S, it’s a literal translation of bec fin, a French expression for “discerning eater.” And with the apostrophe-S, it’s… Well, it’s probably the result of a free association session between Eugène Ionesco, Timothy Leary and Hunter S. Thompson.
