Julien Lourau and Bojan Z at Salle Pleyel: Pianist Bojan Zulfikarpasic and saxophonist Julien Loureau and their respective bands, Tetraband and Quartet Saigon, will each play a set, then the two musicians will perform as a duo. The music of both is about mixing things up: jazz with elements of folk music (especially from Southeastern Europe), funk, rock and pop.

“Inna da Yard” at Cabaret Sauvage: Deep roots music played acoustic by reggae graybeards, including guitarist Earl Chinna Smith of one JA’s premier JA session bands, the Soul Syndicate; dub pioneer Linval Thompson; Cedric Myton of the Congos; and the Viceroys.

Capillary Action and Rhys Chatham at Mains d’Œuvres: Composer and guitarist Rhys Chatham, known for his works for hundreds of guitars (usually 100, but a commission from Paris for the 2005 Nuit Blanche called for 400), plays an electric set, and Capillary Action, a band whose unclassifiable sounds nevertheless fit into whatever category one might place Frank Zappa or John Zorn, plays an acoustic set.
